Baby Shower
I just want to thank everyone who attended our baby shower, especially those for coming from far distances. It was wonderfully hosted by my Aunt Dena and Sister-in-law Amy. They did a great job (and thank you for the no games)! We received a lot of great things for our little one and can't wait to use them! It was great to see everyone as well as have everyone over to our house to show off Baby Barnett's room.
36 weeks...
I am now 37 weeks, but last week we had our last lamaze class and a doctor's appointment. They both went good!
We ended our lamaze class with learning how to breath and push at the same time. I think the class was useful and I will be able to say more after Baby Barnett is born, but I think in the midst of labor I am not going to be thinking about the different ways to breath or try to remember which one is best for what stage of labor...I think it is a good class to take to help ease some concerns and anxiety...but I think Curt and I are pretty easy going and will just go with the flow of what is best our baby and I.
At our doctor's appointment...he told me I still had several weeks to go...we have another appointment this coming Friday to see if there is progress. He did tell us if things start to happen, how we can get a hold of someone to find out if the things that are starting are real and if we need to head to the hospital. Our doctor also informed us that he will be out of town at the end of the month. To some this may worrisome, but he has been gone at 3 of our previous appointments where we saw the other doctor and nurse practioner in the office. So at least we are familiar with the other doctor if our doctor so happens to be gone when it is time for Baby Barnett's entrance.

Echo
While I sit here typing this blog...my bathtub is currently filling up for the second time tonight...because our little dog Echo decided she wanted her bath first! I filled up the tub, it was almost ready (I forgot to close the shower door) and I heard a commotion...went into the bathroom to find:

Echo was bobbing for her tennis balls. That's our water dog! So after I found her like this...I closed her in the shower and gave her a bath.

34 Weeks!
We are now 34 weeks...! We met with our doctor a couple of weeks ago and everything is looking and measuring good! Baby is still in the head down position. We go back Feb. 6th for another check-up.
We are definitely ready for the little one to get here! Can't wait to see what I have been carrying in me for so long.
We started our Labor Prep class last night at the hospital. We learned how to relax...haha. We went through several exercises to concentrate on our breathing and to learn how to work through the contractions.
The nursery is really coming together and ready for the baby. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment!

(The toy box is one my Great Grandpa Berwyn made me, and the shelves he also made...are holding the diapers, wipes, and other supplies)

Rob and Laura's Wedding
It has been a few weeks now, but I wanted to add pictures when I made a post to the blog. Curt's brother, Rob got married on January 3rd to Laura. It was a fun and long weekend. Curt and I helped Curt's mom, Colleen, and sister, Amy, with the rehearsal dinner. Then we helped with the set up and decorating at the wedding/reception site. And then the day of the wedding Curt was a groomsman so we arrived early for him to get ready and for myself to help with the rest of the setup. I also served cake during the reception and then our job at the end of the day was to deliver all of the presents to their house. It was a beautiful wedding. And it was great because they were able to use several of things we had at our wedding.

(I also made mints that were on each table in heart-shaped crystal dishes)

31 weeks!
We had an appointment last week before Christmas and everything looks good! Our Doctor was out of the office, so we met with a nurse practioner. As usual, the baby's heartbeat sounds good and my belly measures how it should! The nurse practioner was able to feel my belly and decipher that the baby is in the correct position and it will probably stay that way until it is born. She said the head was down...I asked her what was on my right side, because that is where I keep getting kicked and poked, she said that was the knees and feet. Since the last appointment I have been having to keep record of the baby's movements. After looking at the chart, I believe the nurse was impressed with how active the baby is. And let me tell you, it is active...
For our Christmas present to each other, Curt and I purchased a "fancy" camera. We figured this would be a great investment with a baby on its way. Hope everyone's Christmas was good!

Monthly Appointment
We had our monthly appointment yesterday. We will be 29 weeks along tomorrow! At our last check-up in November I was told to go have the glucose tolerance test done and get my rhogam shot. So last week I went and had those done. The glucose test is a standard test to check for gestational diabetes. You are not suppose to eat for 12 hours before the test, so I went to the hospital in the morning before breakfast. Then you are given some extremely bitter lemon-lime liquid and are told to drink it within 5 minutes. After you finish the drink you are to sit there for 1 hour. I am so thankful for such a supporting husband...Curt came and sat with me and we starved together. At the end of the hour they take a blood sample to see how your body reacted to the glucose. After that process was done, I needed to get the rhogam shot because of the Rh factor.
At the doctor's appointment, they also listened to the baby's heartbeat (which they said sounds good and strong) and measured my belly. It measured at 28.5 which means 28.5 weeks...so we are right on! I am also to keep record of the baby's movements from now until the baby is born.
Last night we also attended our Pre-Admit Registration class at the hospital where the baby will be delivered. At the class we filled out some of the paperwork so when the time comes to have the baby we won't be stuck out in the lobby trying to fill out papers. The instructor also told us of the different screenings and tests they will do as soon as the baby is born...gave us an idea of how our room will look...and a bunch of other information!
We are getting pretty excited and can't wait for the little one to arrive! From now until the first of February we start seeing the doctor twice a month...so I should be able to report more often.
