31 weeks!

We had an appointment last week before Christmas and everything looks good! Our Doctor was out of the office, so we met with a nurse practioner. As usual, the baby's heartbeat sounds good and my belly measures how it should! The nurse practioner was able to feel my belly and decipher that the baby is in the correct position and it will probably stay that way until it is born. She said the head was down...I asked her what was on my right side, because that is where I keep getting kicked and poked, she said that was the knees and feet. Since the last appointment I have been having to keep record of the baby's movements. After looking at the chart, I believe the nurse was impressed with how active the baby is. And let me tell you, it is active...

For our Christmas present to each other, Curt and I purchased a "fancy" camera. We figured this would be a great investment with a baby on its way. Hope everyone's Christmas was good!

Monthly Appointment

We had our monthly appointment yesterday. We will be 29 weeks along tomorrow! At our last check-up in November I was told to go have the glucose tolerance test done and get my rhogam shot. So last week I went and had those done. The glucose test is a standard test to check for gestational diabetes. You are not suppose to eat for 12 hours before the test, so I went to the hospital in the morning before breakfast. Then you are given some extremely bitter lemon-lime liquid and are told to drink it within 5 minutes. After you finish the drink you are to sit there for 1 hour. I am so thankful for such a supporting husband...Curt came and sat with me and we starved together. At the end of the hour they take a blood sample to see how your body reacted to the glucose. After that process was done, I needed to get the rhogam shot because of the Rh factor.

At the doctor's appointment, they also listened to the baby's heartbeat (which they said sounds good and strong) and measured my belly. It measured at 28.5 which means 28.5 weeks...so we are right on! I am also to keep record of the baby's movements from now until the baby is born.

Last night we also attended our Pre-Admit Registration class at the hospital where the baby will be delivered. At the class we filled out some of the paperwork so when the time comes to have the baby we won't be stuck out in the lobby trying to fill out papers. The instructor also told us of the different screenings and tests they will do as soon as the baby is born...gave us an idea of how our room will look...and a bunch of other information!

We are getting pretty excited and can't wait for the little one to arrive! From now until the first of February we start seeing the doctor twice a month...so I should be able to report more often.
