Now that the weather has warmed up a little, we have been busy getting our yard back in shape. Going on 3 years of owning our house, the yard gets better looking every year! It seems as if we are always working on a new project at the house, but I guess that is what happens when you buy and older home that needs some updating! Luckily, we enjoy fixing up our house and we can do most of it ourselves. Being the handy man that Curt is, he has taught me a wide array of skills such as electrical, drywalling, building of a fence, and many more.
This fall / winter we have been busy working on the inside of our house. We first knocked out a wall that sat between our living room and kitchen. It now gives it a very open feel, and you can now have a conversation with someone sitting in the living room or watch TV while cooking. We also, updated our current cabinets, removed the green and gold specked formica countertops and added new quartz counters. In the kitchen we also removed the sofets about the cabinets and added new pendants lights. Being that our house was built in 1971, it had the wonderful "popcorn" ceiling texture. It no longer has that! After a long couple of days of scraping, we were happy to see it gone! We hired a contractor to retexture the ceiling and it looks great! We also added crown moulding throughout the main living space. And with a fresh coat of paint, the house looks good! Now we are working to save money for new floors and recessed lighting! After that the last "big" project in the house will be updating the bathroom.

Curt has been busy with the startup of his new business. Any free time he has, if not working on the house, entertaining our new puppy, or taking me on dates...Curt has been working in Boardman, OR at a farm working on industrial automation for their work equipment.
I have been busy holding the house down during the day, watching the dogs, and preparing for another year of cheerleading. I am the JV Cheer Coach at Redmond High (my old high school) and really enjoy it! I love watching the girls progress. I mainly work with girls who have never had any cheerleading experience, so I teach them everything they need to know and it is a sense of accomplishment to see them move to the next level. We just got through with tryouts for next year, and over half of my cheerleaders made it to the Varsity level (and they were better than most of the returning Varsity girls). We will start getting busy at the end of July with fundraisers at the Deschutes County Fair, Cheer Camp, Daily Doubles, and then the start of football season! I have also been wanting to start planning events...such as wedding, social, and sporting...so if you need a good event planner...talk to me!
Well that is a little update...more to come later! I will work on getting some more pictures up!
